Best source of calcium?

I’ll give you a clue; it’s not dairy!

There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that dairy actually deteriorates bone health, because it can create an acidic environment in the body – and the easiest way for our body to counter this acidity is to leech calcium from our bones.

So, where can you find an abundance of calcium, without the dairy? Well, one of the best sources is legumes; white beans being having the most – some sources claiming 191mg in 1 cup. The best news is that canning doesn’t degrade the calcium content, which means its a really convenient source, easy to add to so many pasta or curry dishes.

Green leafy vegetables are also a great source of calcium, as well as pretty much every other nutrient. Is there anything green leafy vegetables can’t do?? Bok choy and kale are two great options, although my favourite is broccoli.

Which type of beans do you prefer, white, black eyed, butter, kidney beans?

Do you prefer dried or canned beans?
